The Moral Landscape: How Science can Determine Human Values by Sam Harris (2010) presents Harris's view that issues of values need not be abandoned to religion or relativism; we can "tear down the wall between scientific facts and human values," and "most people are simply mistaken about the relationship between morality and the rest of human knowledge." We can reason about what promotes human well-being. Though perfect consensus will not occur, we will find a non-religious basis for ethics.

The Brain Books discussion group is open to all. It occurs on the 4th Tuesday in the Ashland Public Library.
